What’s My Line?

Conveying the right marketing message is essential in attracting the right group of potential clients.  All purpose positioning statements – sometimes referred to as elevator speeches – are a frequently-used tool for conveying that all important message.  Simply stated, the message must focus on who you are and what you do, regardless of profession.

Participant in National Jump-Start Your Retirement Days Hotline

Deidra Fulton, founder of Fulton Financial Planning, recently participated in Kiplinger Personal Finance magazine’s national Jump-Start Your Retirement Days initiative. The telephone hotline, co-sponsored by the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), offered consumers from across the nation an opportunity to obtain free retirement-related financial advice from the nation’s premier financial advisors.

Advisors who participated in the hotline fielded a variety of pressing financial questions, such as: Am I saving enough to live the lifestyle I want in retirement?  Is my money invested properly?  What kind of IRA should I have?  How should I be investing my 401(k)?

Money Savvy Tips

Making sure that your money works in the best possible way is important throughout the year – not just at certain times.

Deidra Fulton, founder of Fulton Financial Planning of Plano, discussed ways that individuals can improve personal fiscal fitness in an ‘Inside Finance’ article that appeared in The Plano Insider.  These begin by raising one’s knowledge about personal finance and money management overall, then progress to identifying short and long-term financial goals, developing plans needed to achieve those goals and implementing specific steps appropriate for the individual’s time horizon and risk tolerance.  Read the article.

Participant in National Jump-Start Your College Savings Hotline

Dispelling myths about women and investing and finances was a significant focus in this adult community education program offered through the Plano Parks and Recreation Department’s Leisure Program.

Deidra Fulton, founder of Fulton Financial Planning of Plano, discussed special challenges that women face in the world of investing and finances, as well as proven strategies for dealing with them.  The program also focused on the basics of smart investing, insights into creating wealth and financial security and tools for estimating the amount of needed retirement resources.

Sharing information on new industry developments and exchanging successful ideas among fellow financial planning professionals are key outcomes gained through networking.

Deidra Fulton, founder of Fulton Financial Planning of Plano, organized, launched and spearheads on an ongoing basis a local study group for fee-only planners who are members of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).  The quarterly meetings provide a forum for expanding knowledge on assorted topics related to financial planning and practice management, as well as further champion the values of fee-only financial planning.

Just Give Me the Answer$

As a contributor to the newly-released personal finance resource book Just Give Me the Answer$: Expert Advisors Address Your Most Pressing Questions, Deidra Fulton, founder of Fulton Financial Planning of Plano, joined other contributors in participating in Dallas/Ft. Worth area book signings at various locations.

The book is a compilation of 134 personal financial planning tips set out in an easy-to-read question and answer format.  It provides straight answers to the most pressing questions posed by consumers as they progress through various life stages.

Investor’s Business Daily

Accessing the lowest interest rates available for consumer loans always ranks high on the list of possibilities toward ensuring that consumers’ money works in the best way possible.  That’s doubly important when it comes to home mortgages.

Deidra Fulton, founder of Fulton Financial Planning of Plano, shared suggestions for consumers in the ‘Window to Refi Has Reopened a Tad’ article that appeared in Investor’s Business Daily, just as the Federal Reserve began its most recent round of raising interest rates.  Fulton suggested beginning by checking one’s credit report for accuracy and relevancy, followed by taking action to address any discrepancies.  She also encouraged consumers to assess various offerings and then initiate action by refinancing or consolidating higher-cost loans into less expensive ones.
